Cookie policy
What we store on your device, and how to manage it.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device to remember information between visits. GradingPen uses a minimal set to keep you signed in and to understand how the site is used.
What we use
Strictly necessary always on
Keep you signed in, remember your rubric preferences, protect against CSRF.
- gp_session — session token (HTTP-only, secure, SameSite=Lax)
- gp_pref — UI preferences (annual/monthly toggle, theme)
Analytics optional
Anonymised usage stats — page views, feature usage, error rates. No personally identifiable information.
- _ga / _ga_* — Google Analytics (only if you've consented)
Payment only on checkout
Cookies set by Stripe on the checkout page for fraud prevention.
How to manage
- Browser controls. Every modern browser has cookie settings — you can block, delete, or restrict cookies per-site.
- Do Not Track. We honour DNT signals for analytics cookies.
- Sign-out. Signing out clears the session cookie.
