Accessibility statement
GradingPen is built to be usable by teachers with a wide range of abilities.
Our target
We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA across the marketing site and dashboard. Teaching is a profession that spans every ability profile, and grading software needs to work for all of it.
What we do today
- Keyboard navigation. All primary flows (sign-in, grading, dashboard) are usable with tab / shift-tab / enter.
- Screen readers. Semantic HTML, form labels, and ARIA attributes on interactive controls.
- Colour contrast. Body text, buttons, and links meet or exceed AA contrast against our dark theme.
- Zoom. Layout stays usable at 200% browser zoom.
- Motion. No auto-playing video; we respect
prefers-reduced-motion. - Alt text. Images have descriptive alt text (icons that are purely decorative are marked as such).
What we're still working on
- Full VoiceOver / NVDA audit of the dashboard's annotation viewer.
- High-contrast theme toggle.
- Live-region announcements when grading finishes.
Report an issue
If something is hard to use, we want to know. Email accessibility@gradingpen.com with:
- The page URL where you hit the issue.
- Your assistive technology (screen reader, magnifier, etc.).
- What you tried and what went wrong.
We aim to acknowledge within 2 business days and fix within 30 days depending on complexity.
Formal complaints
US schools and districts can escalate unresolved concerns to the US Department of Education Office for Civil Rights: how to file.
