Is GradingPen FERPA compliant? ⌄
Yes. GradingPen is designed with FERPA compliance in mind. We offer a Data Processing Agreement, allow school admins to export all data, delete student data on request, and we do not sell or share data with third parties. Contact us for a signed DPA for your district.
Can we pay by purchase order? ⌄
Yes. We accommodate purchase orders, district contracts, and invoicing for schools. Just mention it when you request a demo and we'll work with your procurement process.
What happens if a teacher leaves? ⌄
School admins can remove a teacher from the school plan at any time from the admin dashboard. The freed seat can immediately be reassigned to a new teacher.
Can we get more than 30 seats? ⌄
Yes! If your school or district needs more than 30 seats, contact us for custom district pricing. We support schools and districts of any size.
How does Google Classroom integration work? ⌄
Teachers connect their Google account to GradingPen once, then import student submissions directly from any Google Classroom assignment — no copy-pasting, no manual uploads. Grades and feedback can be reviewed inside GradingPen before being sent back to students.
Is there a pilot program before we commit to a full school plan? ⌄
Yes. We offer a structured 30-day school pilot — typically 3–5 teachers, full Teacher Max access, weekly check-ins, and a written outcome report at the end. Most schools that pilot convert because the time savings are impossible to ignore. Contact us to set up your pilot.
Can we get a live demo before making a decision? ⌄
Absolutely. We offer 30-minute live demos tailored to your department or school — we'll grade sample essays from your subject area using your actual rubric so you can see the real output. Book a demo from our
contact page and we'll schedule within 48 hours.
What onboarding and training do you provide for staff? ⌄
Every School Plan includes a live onboarding session, a step-by-step teacher setup guide, a video library covering every feature, and a dedicated support contact. Most teachers are grading their first batch within 20 minutes of setup. We also offer optional department-wide training sessions — contact us to arrange.
How does the shared grade pool work for the School Plan? ⌄
The School Plan includes a shared pool of grades (based on your seat count) that all teachers draw from. The school admin can monitor usage by teacher from the admin dashboard, set per-teacher limits, and add more grades as needed. Unused grades roll over month-to-month — your department never loses budget.
What student data does GradingPen collect, and how is it protected? ⌄
GradingPen only processes the essay text and assignment metadata necessary to generate a grade and feedback. We do not collect student names, IDs, or contact information unless provided by the teacher as part of submission context. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). We never sell or share student data. Full details in our
Data Processing Agreement.
What happens to student data if we cancel our plan? ⌄
You own your data. Before cancellation, you can export all grades, feedback, and assignment history in CSV format from your settings. After cancellation, your data is retained for 30 days (so you can change your mind), then permanently deleted. You can also request immediate deletion at any time — we'll confirm in writing within 72 hours.
Does GradingPen align with Common Core and state standards? ⌄
Yes. GradingPen's rubric system is fully customizable to any standard framework — Common Core ELA, Next Generation Science Standards, AP rubrics, IB criteria, or your district's own standards. You define what the AI grades against, so your state's specific writing standards are always the benchmark — not some generic template.
